Did me some thrifting!

Oooooooooo, what a great day! I did some thrift store shopping today after work.! Well actually I got into it on my lunch hour because while my sister was driving me back to the office after lunch we saw a sign for an estate sale and we had to hit it! They had lots of neat stuff, but we didn't have much time and no cash. I did find a plate for my kitchen that was grapes, since I'm trying to do a grape theme in there and it was only $2.50.

Then after work we hit the American Cancer Society Discovery Store and I got lucky again and found a beautiful picture with angels on it that have a little story...well actually two stories because my brother in law had his own story he made up...more info tomorrow. I also found a nice lampshade. I had been wanting one...need to dress it up a bit, but more on that tomorrow as well.

Then we went to the Goodwill store and I found a lovely, wonderful, beautiful picture for the living room wall behind the couch that is absolutely blank and white right now, hopefully I can get it hung tomorrow and can share with you.

And a perfect ending to the day...I had homemade cheese enchiladas, beans and rice and a margarita...well actually two, at my sister's house. Enchiladas courtesy of my brother in law. Thanks Guero! They were sooooooo good and spicy, ay ay yay!

My Creative Mind

I posted a few days ago about how my energy is coming back and a few details about my surgery, which I still have to complete. But I noticed that it was getting harder and harder for me to blog as my mind was just a blank. I couldn't think of anything creative or interesting to blog about (not that all my prior blogs are all that interesting and creative...lol).

But the last few days I've had lots of thoughts pop into my mind about future blogs. Today I was checking out a website called Etsy.com and I remembered how when I bought my house I wanted to put a saying over the doorway from the living room into the kitchen, so I found some I like and that's what this post is about. See...it's not that creative or interesting...but it is to me :-)

These are not in any particular order. I was going to organize them into the ones I want in the doorway, the ones I want in my bedroom, the ones I want in the kitchen, but NAH...that's really too much work and I'm kind of half devoting my brain right now to watching The Ellen Show!
I like these two for my sister's laundry room more than I like it for mine because I don't do laundry very often since it's just me. She, on the other hand, has a big, sweaty husband and two smelly boys, so she does a TON of laundry! I mean like very day, a couple times a day! She only knows two rooms in her house, the laundry room and the kitchen!

Those were cute huh? And very appropriate for her. Ok, most of these are self explanatory, so I'll just roll with them and only comment on the ones I feel are too deep for you to comprehend :-)

Ok, I'll comment on this one because I think this one is a keeper for putting it over the entry door into my kitchen from the living room. This is me...I love being at home. There is no where else on earth I would rather be. I love my home. I love to just sit there and enjoy my home. Sometimes when I leave for work I stand at the door and just look back one more time and think to myself...I love my house!

I'll comment on this one also because I'm trying to do my kitchen in a grapey, wine type of theme. I don't really care for wine, but a lot of things you can buy for your kitchen that have grapes also have wine and vice versa. It would be much more appropriate for me if it said, "I like to cook with Corona and occasionally... I even put it in the food." Hmmmm, they can custom make these to say whatever you want. I think that's what I'm going to do! I know it doesn't go with the grapey, wine kind of theme, but it works better for me. I guess I'm just a little more ghetto.

These next ones are sooooooooooo cool! Because anyone who knows me knows I love shopping, and I love shoes!

I like this one for the wall in my bedroom because my sister gave me a soap dispenser for my birthday that says, "Sing like no one is listening". See...I love to sing and I think I even have a pretty decent voice, and God has given me the gift of remembering the lyrics to every song I hear. I don't ever remember the name of the song or the artist, but I remember the lyrics and I love to sing while I'm cooking or cleaning house. My kids though hate it. They hate when I sing in the car and even more so when I sing at home. I keep telling them that someday when I'm gone they're going to wish they could hear me sing just one more time (they don't see it that way).

This next one is one that kind of matches the one about singing above, but I really want to put this on the wall above my kichen sink. It pretty much tells my kids, na nee, na nee, naa naa! :-P

I'll comment on this one, because I would love to put this one on a wall in my living room between my two little black shelves that I place Knickknack's and pictures on. I love putting up pictures of family and friends and there are people that like that sort of stuff and think it's great and then there are those people that think it's just more crap to clean, dust catchers, chincherio! But this saying says exactly why I love to display photos!

And that's it. I just got a call from my sister and I guess we're going to do a "Friday Night" tonight. We haven't done one in a long time due to my surgery and the weather and a few other obligations that we have had. So I'm off to drink wine coolers and eat guacamole and we're going to watch Kevin Costner in "The Guardian"!

Pedicure Friday

We have a tradition, my sis and I. Every Friday we try to do something together. Most of the time it's dinner somewhere new or an old fav, or we go shopping or do Walmart and Wendy's, but this Friday my sis proclaimed that she had had a really rough week and nothing else would do but to get Pedicures! Well powder my butt and call me Princess....that's one of my fav things.

We went to one of my fav places, Top Nail.
And since it was our special Friday treat we went for the whole enchilada...the Spa Pedi!

I know, it looks intimidating, but if it were a man I would marry it! This amazing chair treats your feet. You relax while your feet soak in warm, aromatic water. While your feet are soaking, pressured jets gently massage away those aches and pains.

This amazing chair also has a state-of-the-art shiatsu roller back massage system. The roller back system works on applying pressure to all the right spots providing several different functions: compression, kneading, percussion and rolling.
We sat there and chit-chatted while soft spoken Vietnamese women pamper our tootsies, *sigh* sheer bliss!

Once all the pampering is done, we get our little tootsies massaged, decuticled? (is that a word) and polished.

And Wa-la, here are the results!

My Sis's tootsies. She was going to a Black Tie fundraiser the next night so she opted for the dressier polish job with the flower and the little crystal ruby on the big toe.

Here's my tootsies. I opted for the more casual polish as I didn't have anything to do the next night *sigh again*.

Pretty huh? I wish we could have gotten manicures, but that wasn't in the budget for this Friday as we still had to have dinner.

Just a quick note on dinner. We went to one of our favorite Mexican places, Mexicali. I had two margaritas and I felt them both! I was slightly tipsy which made the rest of the evening oodles of fun, for me anyway as Lisa was now the designated driver!

Ok, so then as Lisa had this special event the next night we decided to go shoe shopping. Now I know there are many that would not be caught dead in a Payless Shoe Store, but I love, love, love that store. I've bought many expensive shoes at other places and they have always hurt my feet, but for some reason any shoe bought at Payless has never, ever hurt and they last forever!

My Sis ended up with these beautiful black, strappy shoes. They looked great with her dress and her new pedicure.

I tried on several shoes and really liked these, but as I didn't have any special event to go to, I didn't buy anything *sigh*. My Friday was just one big *sigh* fest!

So after shoe shopping, Lisa decided that she would like to color her hair. She'd been trying to get me to color mine a kind of burgundy color but I don't know, it's just not me, so she thought she would try it. We went to Longs which was in the same shopping center as Payless (now mind you, I'm still pretty buzzed so it was all fun for me). We bought the hair color and came back to my house where I colored her hair and we called it a day. I think it took me longer to write this than it took to do all this.

So here she is with her new haircolor and new shoes the next day off to go to her Black Tie Event. Beautiful, don't you agree?

Here's a closer pic so you can see the new haircolor. It really doesn't show up too well here but I does in the picture above because the sunlight is shining on it.
