Saying that I am getting excited for General Conference is a bit of an understatement.

I AM SUPER HYPED.

Listening to the leaders of the church is always something that I look forward to.

I decided to create a simple handout for either the young women or relief society sisters to encourage them
to prayerfully watch General Conference!

As of late I have been on a bit of a nautical kick, which inspired the handout. 

If you want to pair a treat with the handout you could easily package up some chocolate gold coins or Nestle's "Treasures"... (mmmmm).

Also included on the handout are some "Map Markers" 

which are simple suggestions of how we can get the most out of watching General Conference.

As of late I have been thinking a lot about service.

How grateful I have been in my life to be surrounded by so many wonderful examples and had so many opportunities to serve myself. 

I was excited as I was wandering around the primary section on LDS.org to find out that next month's primary theme is 

"I will serve God with all my heart, might, mind, and strength."

I decided to create a fun little game based on the outline 

"PROPHETS & APOSTLES SHOW US HOW TO SERVE".

It is a fun and simple matching activity that could either be used in sharing time or in the home!

I selected a few different leaders who exemplified great service from the Bible, Book of Mormon, and Latter Days. 

For each prophet I created two matching cards. 

One card has a picture and name of a leader.

The second has qualities and characteristics for that particular leader specific to their service.

Each card also has a back design (all back designs are the same) that read, "Examples of Service From the Prophets" 

The cards are also color coordinated for younger children who might not know the exact coordinating characteristics. 

Children can take turns flipping over cards in search of matches.

My thought is if this were to be used for a sharing time or FHE, time could be taken after a match is found

 to discuss the leader and how they served as a group using scriptures, stories, etc.

 (see some suggestions below).

Keep in mind that I created these images as a 5x7 so if you attempt to change the sizing, 

you may run the risk of slightly blurring the image!

Also, I used free LDS images for the pictures, so they aren't the highest quality, 

but when I printed them out as a 5x7, I thought they looked fine!

General Conference Notebooks

Come Listen to a Prophet's Voice

Okay, just another quick idea!

I can't resist---this one was just so easy, and turned out great!

This week for mutual, the girls decided they wanted to make 

GENERAL CONFERENCE JOURNALS.

I mean seriously---what a darling idea, right?

We decided to keep the project simple. 

We bought some cheap leather composition notebooks.

I went ahead and created some tabs for each of the general authorities.

We cut out a tab for each of the apostles and first presidency.

(The tabs included their name and picture).

We took tape and gave the pictures a quick laminating job in order to keep the tabs a little more firm. 

After laminating the pictures, we layered the tabs throughout the notebook 

(giving a few pages to each general authority in order to use the notebook in the future).

 We are all sure excited to use our general conference notebooks this weekend!

It will allow us all to record some of the sweet promptings we receive.

M & M

Can I just mention how excited I am for general conference?

Thrilled.

I really wanted to get the young women just as excited as I am for conference.

As a presidency, we decided to make and deliver these cute little reminders to the girls.

We attached this short reminder to a package of pretzel M&M's.

It turned out really cute and the girls just loved them.

It gives 3 quick suggestions how to MAKE the MOST out of your general conference experience.

1. Write a list of questions

2. Pray specifically about the items on your list

3. Listen for answers

We Thank Thee oh God for a Prophet

PRESIDENT THOMAS S. MONSON

A few nights back, I was reading some talks given by President Monson.

Truly inspiring. 

Reading the words simply reconfirmed to me that he truly is living prophet on the earth today.

What a blessing to have this knowledge.

It inspired me to recreate some of my favorite quotes spoken by the prophet.
