Behold the Wood (Dan Schutte)
Refrain
Behold, behold, the wood of the cross,1. Unless a grain of wheat shall fall
On which is hung our salvation.
O come, let us adore.
upon the ground and die
It shall remain but a single grain,
and not give life
2. And when my hour of glory comes
as all was meant to be
You shall see me lifted up upon a tree.

It Is A Thing Most Wonderful (setting: John Ireland)
It is a thing most wonderful,
almost too wonderful to be,
that God's own Son should come from heaven,
and die to save a child like me.
And yet I know that it is true:
he chose a poor and humble lot,
and wept, and toiled, and mourned, and died,
for love of those who loved him not.
I sometimes think about the cross,
and shut my eyes, and try to see
the cruel nails and crown of thorns
and Jesus crucified for me.
But even could I see him die,
I could but see a little part
of that great love, which, like a fire,
is always burning in his heart.
And yet I want to love thee, Lord;
O light the flame within my heart,
and I will love thee more and more,
until I see thee as thou art.

Our Father, We Have Wandered
Our Father, we have wandered
and hidden from your face,
in foolishness have squandered
your legacy of grace.
But now, in exile dwelling,
we rise with fear and shame,
as distant but compelling,
we hear you call our name.
And now at length discerning
the evil that we do,
behold us Lord, returning
with hope and trust to you.
In haste you come to meet us
and home rejoicing bring.
In gladness there to greet us
with calf and robe and ring.
O Lord of all the living,
both banished and restored,
compassionate, forgiving
and ever caring Lord,
grant now that our transgressing,
our faithlessness may cease.
Stretch out your hand in blessing
in pardon and in peace.

Stay With Me (Taizé)
Stay with me, remain here with me.
Watch and pray,
watch and pray.
Verses:
1. Stay here and keep watch with me. Watch and pray, watch and pray!
2. Watch and pray not to give way to temptation.
3. The spirit is eager, but the flesh is weak.
4. My heart is nearly broken with sorrow. Remain here with me, stay awake and pray.
5. Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass me by.
6. Father, if this cannot pass me by without my drinking it, your will be done.

Salvator Mundi (Tallis)
Salvator mundi, salva nos;
qui per crucem et sanguinem redemisti nos,
auxiliare nobis, te deprecamur, Deus noster.
Composer: Thomas Tallis (1505-1585)
All for Jesus
All for Jesus, all for Jesus,
this our song shall ever be;
for we have no hope, nor Savior,
if we have not hope in thee.
All for Jesus, thou wilt give us
strength to serve thee, hour by hour,
none can move us from thy presence,
while we trust thy love and power.
All for Jesus, at thine altar
thou wilt give us sweet content;
there, dear Lord, we shall receive thee
in the solemn sacrament.
All for Jesus, thou hast loved us;
all for Jesus, thou hast died;
all for Jesus, thou art with us;
all for Jesus crucified.
All for Jesus, all for Jesus,
this the Church's song must be;
till, at last, her sons are gathered
one in love and one in thee.

Gwaed y Groes syn codi i fyny (Tune: Bryn Calfaria)
Gwaed y Groes syn codi i fyny
Reiddil yn goncwerwr mawr
Gwaed dy roes sydd yn darostwng
Cewri cedyrn fyrdd i lawr
Gad im deimlo,
Gad im deimlo,
Gad im deimlo
Awel O Galfaria fryn
Awel O Galfaria fryn
Cymer, Iesu, fi fel rydwyf
Fyth ni allaf fod yn well
Dallu di am gwna yn agos,
Fewyllys i yw mynd ymhel
Yn dy glwyfau, yn dy glwyfau, yn dy glwyfau,
Byddain unig fyth yn iach
Byddain unig fyth yn iach
Ymddiried af yn dy allu
Mawr ywr gwaith a wnest erioed;
Ti gest angeu,
Ti gest uffern,
Ti gest Satan dan dy droed
Pen Calfar-ia,
Pen Calfar-ia,
Pen Calfar-ia,
Nac aed hwnw byth om cof
Nac aed hwnw byth om cof
Calvary's blood the weak exalteth
More than conquerors to be,
Calvary's blood the strong abaseth
Myriad hosts to bow to Thee.
O Revive me, O Revive me, O Revive me
With a breeze from Calvary
With a breeze from Calvary
Take me as I am, O Saviour
Better I can never be
Thou alone canst bring me nearer
Self but draws me far from thee
I can never, I can never, I can never
But within Thy wounds be saved.
But within Thy wounds be saved.
Wearied of the desert journey
Which through pain and peril goes
I have failed, alone, to conquer
E'en the meanest of my foes.
But the strongest, But the strongest, But the strongest,
Flies, before Thy glorious Name
Flies, before Thy glorious Name
I will thrust Thy might unmeasured
Great the work that marks Thy way;
Thou hast death, and Thou hast Satan,
Thou hast hell beneath Thy sway;
Hill of Calv'ry! Hill of Calv'ry! Hill of Calv'ry!
I shall praise for evermore.
I shall praise for evermore.
I shall praise for evermore.

O Haupt voll Blut und Wunden (Germany)
O Haupt voll Blut und Wunden,
Voll Schmerz und voller Hohn,
O Haupt, zum Spott gebunden
Mit einer Dornenkron',
O Haupt, sonst schön gezieret
Mit höchster Ehr' und Zier,
Jetzt aber höchst schimpfieret:
Gegrüßet sei'st du mir!
Du edles Angesichte,
Davor sonst schrickt und scheut
Das große Weltgewichte,
Wie bist du so bespeit!
Wie bist du so erbleichet!
Wer hat dein Augenlicht,
Dem sonst kein Licht nicht gleichet,
So schändlich zugericht't?
Die Farbe deiner Wangen,
Der roten Lippen Pracht
Ist hin und ganz vergangen;
Des blassen Todes Macht
Hat alles hingenommen,
Hat alles hingerafft,
Und daher bist du kommen
Von deines Leibes Kraft.
Nun, was du, Herr, erduldet,
Ist alles meine Last;
Ich hab' es selbst verschuldet,
Was du getragen hast.
Schau her, hier steh' ich Armer,
Der Zorn verdienet hat;
Gib mir, o mein Erbarmer,
Den Anblick deiner Gnad'!
Erkenne mich, mein Hüter,
Mein Hirte, nimm mich an!
Von dir, Quell aller Güter,
Ist mir viel Gut's getan.
Dein Mund hat mich gelabet
Mit Milch und süßer Kost;
Dein Geist hat mich begabet
Mit mancher Himmelslust.
Ich will hier bei dir stehen,
Verachte mich doch nicht!
Von dir will ich nicht gehen,
Wenn dir dein Herze bricht;
Wenn dein Haupt wird erblassen
Im letzten Todesstoß,
Alsdann will ich dich fassen
In meinen Arm und Schoß.
Es dient zu meinen Freuden
Und kommt mir herzlich wohl,
Wenn ich in deinem Leiden,
Mein Heil, mich finden soll.
Ach, möcht' ich, o mein Leben,
An deinem Kreuze hier
Mein Leben von mir geben,
Wie wohl geschähe mir!
Ich danke dir von Herzen,
O Jesu, liebster Freund,
Für deines Todes Schmerzen,
Da du's so gut gemeint.
Ach gib, daß ich mich halte
Zu dir und deiner Treu'
Und, wenn ich nun erkalte,
In dir mein Ende sei!
Wenn ich einmal soll scheiden,
So scheide nicht von mir;
Wenn ich den Tod soll leiden,
So tritt du dann herfür;
Wenn mir am allerbängsten
Wird um das Herze sein,
So reiß mich aus den Ängsten
Kraft deiner Angst und Pein!
Erscheine mir zum Schilde,
Zum Trost in meinem Tod,
Und lass mich sehn dein Bilde
In deiner Kreuzesnot!
Da will ich nach dir blicken,
Da will ich glaubensvoll
Dich fest an mein Herz drücken.
Wer so stirbt, der stirbt wohl.
