The end of the beginning...

Elder L. Tom Perry

It has been quite the sentimental weekend for Brett and I.
I have been having flashbacks to three years ago when Brett and I were just newly married.
During our honeymoon, Brett was scheduled to start the Junior Core Accounting program at BYU.
Since the moment we were married, our lives have revolved around getting Brett through school
and on a path to a successful career.

I look back and marvel at how far we have come.
I'll be the first to admit, some days I just wanted it to be over.
I was ready to get past the student phase and on to a new adventure in life.
Oh what I would do today to hold on to those moments forever.

This past weekend Brett graduated with his Master of Accountancy, and I could not be more proud.
As the graduates walked out, I became a little teary eyed.
What an amazing accomplishment.

Not to be forgotten, is our amazing parents.
Both sets of parents have helped and supported us through college
and most importantly taught us the value in getting an education.
Brett's parents always taught him how important it was to do something he loved
and to work towards something that would eventually provide for a family.
They have encouraged him and pushed him to do his best.
My parents always taught me that for a woman an education was equally as important.
And both sets of parents have believed in us more than we have believed in ourselves.

As I have watched Brett over the past three years, I have seen him grow so much.
I admire Brett's ability to accomplish anything he sets his mind to.
He is such an example to me, and makes me want to be better everyday.

Brett and I have grown together more in the past few years than I would have ever imagined.
I am baffled by the fact that our capacity to love each other grows more everyday.

Even though I am sad to see this phase come and go,
I can't wait for the years to come and the adventures that await us.

It's the start of a new chapter for our little Aitken family,
and we are certainly ready to continue writing our story.
