Party Time by Jo Piccirilli

It's my turn on the blog again today and its time to parteeeeee!!!!

This time of the year is always super busy for me at school.  My girlfriend and I go "all out" to celebrate World Teachers Day and I also have the job of making all the invitations for our Year 7 Graduates.  This year is a little special for me as my middle boy is graduating primary school.

We have an owl as our mascot at school.  It stands for Our Wonderful Learners.  Here is what I have been creating using some fabbo products from Couture Creations

The party hat I made by purchasing plain party hats and putting tinsel around them and also cutting out an owl image with the Scallop Nesting Dies.  The little picks at the front are made along the same line.  I printed an owl image and then used my Circle Nesting Dies and Scallop Nesting dies.  We have made 80 cupcakes so a pick will go into each one.

Soon as I seen the Hoot Hoot die I knew it would be perfect for our Graduation invitations.  I again used my Circle and Scallop Nesting Dies and teamed it with the Houndstooth Embossing Folder.  My little owl needed something to sit on and the Jasmine Dream die was perfect!    Here's a closer shot of the invite.

I have 70 of these to make so I need to get my skates on!

The owl lolly bag was a hoot to make! hehehe.  Here's how I did it.

Using the Victorian Square Nesting dies cut out your cardstock.  I have then ran it through my cuttlebug using the Walrus & Carpenter Embossing Folder from the Dreamscapes Collection.  I chose this one as it reminded me of feathers.

Then fold your die cut in half and you just have to finish of using the Circle Nesting Dies for the eyes and the Heart Nesting Dies for the nose.  We have 80 of these for all of our teachers at school!

Until next time!

Peace on Earth by Patti Hamil

Hi, it's Patti. Today I want to share a technique that is easy, but beautiful. Especially for any Holiday cardmaking or scrapbooking that you want to do. I started out with one of the gorgeous Wrapped In Joy embossing folders. I chose because I wanted to color in the little holly leaves with different colors.

Here are a couple of close-ups of the finished project.

First I gathered some of the supplies, the embossing folder, my trusty tweezers, markers in colors that I wanted and some gems.

I colored in the embossed parts with several colors of  markers. I chose very light colors for this. I used pink, blue, green and burgundy.

After coloring them all in, the magic starts! I just used iridescent ink and rubbed over the entire embossed image! It lightens and adds just the right amount of shimmer!!!

I used the Glitzin Glamour just for the little berries on this.

When  I finished, I added an embossed strip across the two sections where they joined (this is a larger card).

I thought the little bird would look perfect on this card too, so I cut it and colored with the same blue marker and used the Shimmers ink on it as well!

This is how it looked!

I used the fancy die for a frame for my sentiment. I embossed a small piece of Gold paper with the same folder to use behind the little frame as a backing.

I added a few matching blooms and some gems and that was it!!! A very striking look but a really simple technique to do. It's fun to play around to see what the ink looks like on the different folders with different colors!!! I hope you enjoyed seeing this and hope you play with this technique too!!!

Dream by Patti Hamil

Today I wanted to share a layout of our beautiful Granddaughter that I did using the Super Powder Puff folder from the Fresh & Fun collection. This design is such a super fun folder to play with, for this one I decided to add some color! I also added LOTS of layers!!!

Here is what I started with.

I colored in the designs with four pastel colors, green, pink, yellow and blue. I just used my Zig markers for this, it was really easy since the  image is so well defined.

Here you see the Nesting Die squares layered underneath the photo! And I used the foam tape underneath as well!!!!

I used the Kaleidoscope Heart die in three colors and added dimension on these as well. I also backed them with a cream cardstock with a yellow tint to match the little yellow fans I tucked behind each square. I also added a pink gemstone to each tip!

In each little center corner I added a tiny little rose at each fan. I added a sticker sentiment "dream".

This layout was so much fun to create, and I hope you liked seeing it! Don't be afraid to add lots of layers and dimension to your pages sometimes, it really makes them come alive!!! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Baby Keepsake Exploding Box by Jo Piccirilli

Hi everyone

I'm back again today to share with you a little off the page project using lots of Couture Creations goodness.

Recently the lady across the road had her 4th baby girl so instead of a traditional present I thought I would make a keepsake.  This is an exploding box.  There are lots of tutorials on Youtube on how to make these.

On the lid I have used the Alcyone Doily Die from the Royal Jewels collection and the Tranquility flourish die along with some paper flowers.

The outside of my box I have used the lower half of the Petite Fleur Embossing Folder from the Romantique Collection.  This folder was was fantastic to use as it has a line of embossed dots so it gave me a guideline for placing my pearls.

The inside of my box reveals a cake made with my Circle Nesting Dies.  I also used these and my Scallop Circle Nesting Dies to make the photo mats.

Here is a quick run down on how to make the cake.

I cut two circles from my nesting dies.

Then cut two long strips.  The width will depend on our wide you want your cake to stand.  Then score two lines approx. 1cm in from each end.

Once you have scored your lines you will then need to cut little triangles out.  Just cut up to the score line.  This makes it much easier to get your paper to bend around the circles you have just cut out.

You can now pop a small amount of glue onto the circle and start and wrap the snipped strip around.  When you get to the end just snit off the extra length.  You can now place these in the middle of your box.

Here is a closer look at the cake.

For the inside photo mats I have used the Large Damask Flourish Embossing Folder and the hearts from the Nesting Hearts Dies

This was heaps of fun to make.  Hope I have inspired you to have a go at making your own.  The ideas are endless!  Until next time.

Summertime Fun by Cathi O'Neill

Hi, Cathi here with another project using my Couture Creations embossing folders and dies. I know it is wintertime in Australia, but up here in Ireland we have had a warmer summer than usual and have been enjoying it!! Aside from my alphas and the paper here, all of these are Couture Creations products!!

My layout design was inspired by a really fun layout, of a scrapping friend of mine, Maja Stokk. She used circles and carried her design across the paper and I loved the movement it created, so I asked her if I could do a layout based on her design and she agreed. You can see her great layout here!

I started by cutting out lots of ovals using my Scallop Oval and Oval Nesting Dies. I inked the edges of the oval papers with Vintage Photo Distress Ink using my Couture Creation Sponge Dauber.

For added texture I used my Core'dinations Whitewash Cardstock to cut out and emboss two of the oval with my Large Hepburn Embossing Folder.

I used my Couture Creations Sanding Block to bring out the design on my Core'dinations paper.

I also wanted to try cutting some felt with my Daisy Nesting Dies. I added some extra paper as a shim when I ran it through my Big Shot, and it cut just fine! I then cut a spiral into the flower die cut to make some rolled flowers, using my Couture Creations Pointy Tool to roll the flower around.

I then made some larger paper flowers with my Daisy Nesting Dies.

I used the smallest daisy die again and layered three of them together, using my Pointy Tool again to punch through the layers. To shape the flower I used a brad to hold them together, then wet the paper and scrunched the layers up to make a pretty flower. I used stamens from my stash to make the flower centers.

For my final touch I added the gorgeous Summer Dragonfly die cut. I just love dragonflies!!

I blinged mine up with Couture Creations Blue Iceberg Adhesive Gemstones.

To add a bit of dimension I used 12mm Foam Mounting Tape to attach my oval photos to their scallop oval mats. I attached all the ovals on the layout with my 18mm Double Sided Tape.

I hope you like my summery layout this month, and hope to see you sharing your work on the Couture Creations Facebook page!!!
