Well this month see's all of my children having their photos taken for school.  How I hate scrapping school photos!  I find it a bit like ground hog day!  But I decided I would start early and have a page ready to go with just my photo to attach only to find I am so far behind in school photos that I still have photos from 3 years ago to scrap!

Here is what I came up with

 

I love how this turned out by just using the nesting circle dies and some bright colour paper.  This technique would be fantastic to use with the square nesting dies  or even the heart nesting dies.  I did see this idea in a book using hearts and stitching right up the middle of the heart so they look like they are floating but decided to go with the circles.

 

Here's how I created this.

 

Firstly using your circle nesting dies cut 11 circles from the second smallest die.  I used half pattern paper and half plain colour cardstock.

 

Now emboss your coloured cardstock circles with your choice of embossing folder.  I have used the Houndstooth embossing folder

Next position them on your page and stick them down with some double sided tape just to hold them in place.

I then took a ruler and ruled thru the centre of the circles to give me a guideline to stitch on.  Then using your piercing tool from your 3 piece tool set pierce up the lines and then stitch.

 

Next I ran some blue cardstock through my cuttlebug with the Cabaret embossing folder and again using the knife from your 3 piece tool set cut out the middle to make your frame.

 

You can now start and assembly the rest of your page.

 

I have used the gorgeous Hoot Hoot owl die to feature as an embellishment on my page.  I have "glammed" her up with a bow on her hair and some big googly eyes.  I have also slipped in the top corner, a doily from the Ivy Doily Die set.  I have also used some Glitzin Glamour just to make my title sparkle a little bit.

Brayden's Y12 Graduation by Kerrie Gurney

Hi Kerrie here with a layout featuring the new Couture Creations Sophia Decorative Dies and Couture Creations Elegance Embossing Folders. 

This is a rare family photo of us all my son's year 12 graduation and I wanted to keep my layout fairly simple as the photo is quite busy looking with all the colour from our clothes, but I still wanted to have lots of  detail and texture.

Die cut Blossom Doily Die and Lanvin Decorative Die from Core'dinations cardstock

  Emboss both die cuts with Extra Loren embossing folder

Cut main background patterned paper to 11" x 11" the photo mat to 9" x 6"  and lastly a strip of patterned paper 2.5" x 11" 

Emboss the photo mat, embossing one side and then the other this gives one side a flattened embossed surface and the second side has a normal embossed surface. This gives a softer embossed look to the top half of the photo mat.

Dry "emboss" the base Core'dinations cardstock, by placing the Large Hepburn Embossing folder under the Core'dinations cardstock and sand with Couture Creations Sanding Block. The embossing folder pattern shows with the core colour coming through.  

Distress all the edges of all patterned papers using Couture Creations Precision Scissors

Layer all your pieces on and embellish using Couture Creations Moonlight Pearls

Using Couture Creations Foam Tape to raise the flower centers

We all now have a Guardian Angel in Heaven

My sister and I have both worked in a funeral home in the past. I worked there almost five years and I believe my sister just as long, if not longer. Even my mom worked there during evening and weekend visitations. We're comfortable and familiar in a funeral home. 

Yet the day when we walked through those doors as customers instead of employees came way too soon for us. 

 Yesterday morning we walked through with our hearts heavy, knowing that we were there to make funeral arrangements for our beautiful father. Yes, daddy passed away peacefully on July 30th. 

It happened so quickly that we didn't have time to get there even though I only work 10 minutes away. He was not alone though, he had his loving wife of 56 years by his side, holding his hand. He had my brother, his name sake, Federico there by his side. Within minutes of his passing the room began to fill with all those he loved the best, his sons and daughter, his grandsons and granddaughters, his son and daughters in law. 

I was amazed by dad's grandchildren. They hugged their Tata and held his hand, there was no fear of death, no one was uncomfortable, this was their beloved Tata, our beloved father, her beloved husband. It was a beautiful moment. 

Of all that happened after dad's passing that is what I will carry with me in my heart about his moment of death, that he was surrounded by love.
